Club Update #21

28/2/2016

We have a few teams playing today, Premier, U14B, and both our us our U16s have a friendly against Bury YMCA. Good luck to all, follow Twitter for results. The month ahead is busy! Here's a flavour!
  • lots of junior and senior fixtures to complete, many of which will determine the final league standings for most leagues
  • final matches in winter netball nights, ready for a new summer league starting in April
  • U14/16 will know whether or not they move on to represent the club and National finals in May
  • Many of our players who are in Jets ADP will be playing in warm up games, with some being ball girls at Jets matches
  • Lots of our members will be playing in the Netball National Schools Finals in Brighton on 19 March, with a number of our girls also representing their school at National Hockey finals at Olympic Park the week before
  • Hannah and Lexy will be representing England in Netball Europe in Gibraltar next weekend
  • Quite a few of our players have National Screening for England trials on 12 March
  • Many of our players are playing SuperLeague or in the NPL squad
  • training sessions will continue and I'll give an update on dates soon

ACTION
We particularly need senior players (and juniors who play up) to be available on the weekend of 12/3, as we are likely to be stretched that weekend. Coaches will be in touch about available, please respond so we have a clear picture.

ASSISTANCE
do we have any insurance experts in the club, particularly health insurance? Do we have anyone who would help drive better content on the website? Anyone want to coach and/or umpire?

PLANNING AHEAD
we are beginning to think about next year and plan for the season ahead, including the number of teams we enter into each competition, trials dates, training schedules, fees etc etc. If you want to be involved, let me know.

Club Update #20

18/2/2016

TRAINING TONIGHT
We expect to be a bit low on numbers tonight, but for all sessions still to be viable and very valuable given we have some really important matches at the weekend and in the coming weeks.
U12/14 will be normal time and normal venues. U16/Seniors will be 7:45-9:15pm, slightly reduced, but important to attend if you’re not away. There is no U11 training this weekend.

PERFORMANCE & FIXTURES
Good win in Premier League last weekend. Netball Nights performance has seen mixed results, but great games and fantastic experience for the young squad who are really competitive in a good adult league.
Busy weekend of important fixtures: Northern (currently top) play Sheffield Stormers (currently second); Senior regional (currently top) play Sheffield Concord (currently third); Senior WY play Tornadoes; in round 4 of Regional league, to qualify for nationals, our U16 play HiILites and our U14 play Ripon Rockets.
Next weekend sees a premier league match, our U11s playing and an important fixture for our U14B who play Fusion.

BEST WISHES
Best wishes to our players returning from injury and safe and speedy recovery to those who are injured. Probably too many to mention: but we have Isabella and Georgia returning from injury in U14 and Ailsa having had aan ACL this week; in U16, we have Hannah who will be having an ACL op; in seniors, we have Lucy who is making a good return from being injured for the first half of the season, and Kylie with a broken toe and Kate with a broken finger! . I’m sure there are others too – best wishes to everyone.

REPRESENTATIONAL STUFF
Good luck and/or well done to those who have been at Regional events, county events or national camps recently or will be in the coming weeks. Also great to see so many of our players playing NPL and ADP games at Jets matches. Our U11 are ball girls this weekend at the Jets home match versus Mavericks. Good luck to those who have England trials next month.

Club Update #19

7/2/2016

Busy couple of weekends, with a lot more wins than losses and lots of learning! Mixed results on WY junior today against some tough competition for some teams. Great wins for U14&16 both against Chevrons that sees them both top with very good goal averages. Premier won today & Northern league won their top of the table clash. Well done all and thanks to coaches and all the parent helpers, whether that's scorers, collecting money, doing emails or just driving!
Quiet weekend next weekend, with just a Premier Match and U11 training. Get down and watch if you can - Beckett at about 12:30.  Thursday night training continues through half term.

Well done to all those participating in the Regional Round of National Schools, and especially to those who qualified for Nationals in Brighton in March.

Jets have had a tough start in SuperLeague, they're away next weekend at Surrey.  Unlucky start for all our girls in NPL, with a narrow loss away to Team Bath yesterday. We will have a number of our girls participating in warm up matches before Jets games in the coming weeks, either in NPL or in Jets Athlete Development Programme.

There is a Level C umpiring course coming up, please get in touch with Susie Stead susiestead@hotmail.com if you are interested in this or any other umpiring or coaching courses.
