Club Update #25

28/5/2016

In another news about some of our talented younger teams....

West Yorkshire U12 tournament
This was recently at Whitcliffe Mount: our U12a came 3rd, after drawing in the semi final to Wakefield Wildcats and losing on a golden goal! Played some lovely netball and played very well as a team.
U12b came 4th- losing in a great play off. To end the day, our B team lost to the LANC A team. Thanks to John, the coach, and to parents who have helped.

WY HiFive tournament
The U11s entered two teams in the annual West Yorkshire High 5 tournament at Whitcliffe Mount at the end of April. The A team battled hard and achieved a creditable 11th place. The B team (which included four Year 5s) exceeded all expectations by finishing as runners up.  Congratulations to the girls and to coach Jade, a great achievement in her first season at LANC.  Thanks also to parents in the age group who have helped.

Introductory Coaching Workshop
Details can be downloaded here for anyone interested, this'd be great for some of the younger girls so they can help at coaching sessions with club next season.

Final reminder - Awards Evening 4 June
See website for details.

Final good luck message......to our U14s completing at Club Nationals in Essex this weekend.  Let's get some Twitter love and support going for the team.

Club Update #24

22/5/2016

Definitely getting to the end of the season now! Just a few things to add to the reminder about the End of Season Awards evening on 4 June!

U16 Nationals Placing
Our U16 represented the club brilliantly at Club Nationals in Newcastle at the end of April. A squad of 12 travelled with Anna, Maggie and Rochelle, with some great kit, team sweets and all you need for a Nationals trip! Saturday saw 4 games, starting with Turnford, who are always strong. We took the win, and carried on unbeaten that day. Some excellent play from the girls, but some tired legs, and thankfully no injuries. The girls enjoyed a good team meal on Saturday night, enjoying the fact that they had played themselves into a top 6 place. They won their first match on Sunday, then met Bury to fight for a place in the final. Leeds lost by about 9 goals, and were beaten by a good side. This meant a place in the 3/4th play off, which Leeds lost by a very narrow margin. Disappointed at the time, but then realising their achievement of being 4th in the country, with memories of a weekend with their friends. Particular thanks to the coaches (Anna, Maggie, Rochelle) for their efforts over the weekend and to others who helped with the planning and preparation for the weekend trip.

U13 tournament runners up
Our U13 went to PGL for the weekend and did brilliantly in the tournament to be runners up, having only lost one match en route to the final. The girls had a great time playing netball, socialising and doing outdoor activities.  Superb experience for these youngsters. Thanks to parents for organising. U13 also did the recent Gung Ho race at Temple Newsam for an extra team building and social event.

LANC Awards Evening Saturday 4 June

10/5/2016

Dear Parents & Players

It's coming to that time of year again when the season draws to a close and whilst I know there are still matches, tournaments and nationals to play for some teams, we can now start to look back at a successful playing season.

The Social Committee will be holding the annual end of season Presentation Evening at Leo's Rugby Club in Alwoodley again this year. We are keeping fingers crossed for good weather and plan to hold a BBQ at the same time.

We hope as many of you as possible will be able to make the evening and support the club. There will be short speeches from the coaches (where possible) summarising the season and awards will be made for Player of the Season in each team as well as Most Improved Player.

Please can you email me at tim@light-fish.co.uk to confirm if you can make it or not for catering numbers. Tickets will be for sale on the door but they can also be purchased in advance either by sending me cheques for the correct amount made payable to LANC (please post to The Old Farm, Otley Road, Burley in Wharfedale. LS29 7DY). Jo Leggett should have some tickets for U12's parents next week.

Or you can pay online directly into the LANC Bank account – please use ref BBQ and your Surname so we can track.
LANC Bank details are: Sort Code 40-27-15 and Account Number is 64758463

Hope to see you all there.

Thanks
