Club Update #16

11/1/2016

RESULTS
Senior WY team won fairly easily on Saturday against Tykes. We're gutted for Kylie, who broke her toe in this match and plays such a prominent role in both Jets and LANC. She did well to coach three teams today in between having her pot put on.  We wish her a speedy recovery. Well done WY senior team, second in the league.

Additionally, our talented U14 secured their first victory in Netball Nights this week, an adult league, this was a great performance and really shows the rate of their development.

Both our U11 teams won today in their club debut, being coached by Anna Carter, who thoroughly enjoyed leading the girls!! Thanks to Anna for prioritising the youngsters, especially in the build up to SuperLeague matches starting! Thanks also to Beccy for coaching the younger U11s who were still at training today. I hear it was a great session.

U14B made a great start to their WY campaign beating Wildcats B. U14A secured a big win against Kingston in their regional league debut. U16 also had a comfortable win against Allus in their opening regional match. Kylie, and her broken toe, coached all three games.

It was a narrow loss for our U12A vs Giants, who are always tough competition. A good win for U12B, with John supporting both teams, thanks John.

Coach Maggie was delighted with her senior regional squad today, who played a competitive and physical game against York, and came out with a 45-20 win. Plenty of juniors in this squad getting great experience and retaining the top of the table position, thanks to the seniors for bringing the juniors on!

Jan led Northern League to secure a convincing win against Chevrons and stay top. Prem had a long trip to Bath and unfortunately lost, although showed lots of improvements and played a very competitive game. Again, we are playing a very young side in Premier League, which is a tough league. Special thanks to player/coach Vicki for the long trek.

MID SEASON REFLECTION
We are an ambitious club and are very privileged to have some of the best coaches in the country. We also have a lot of very talented and hardworking players and some dedicated parents. We run lots of teams, and try to deliver extensive quality training. We run a pretty dynamic website and fill your inbox with these regular updates to try and keep people posted with what is going on and to build a good club atmosphere. We offer opportunities to the older girls to support the younger girls and help at coaching, which it a great opportunity. It isn't always easy to get everything right though, because we don't have quite enough coaches and many of our coaches still play at a very high level themselves, and also because we mostly have full time jobs in the real-world as well as running the club! The game is also short of umpires and coaches across the region, which places additional pressure.

It's been a very busy weekend, with well over a hundred girls playing, which is great.  We have had some great performances and results this week and those of us who lead the club are very proud of what is being achieved and grateful to those who are helping. We feel like the club is moving in the right direction and offering the girls great opportunities both on and off court. We've had quite a lot of positive feedback recently, which helps those who make the effort to run the club worthwhile for both coaches and admin. I am also aware though that not everyone will be happy eg with coaching/umpiring/selection/court time/position played etc etc. I've learned to realise that we cannot keep all the people happy all the time! But, we will continue to do our best! Please work with us on this stuff and talk to the coach to work things out, or if things really aren't working out talk to someone about an alternative club if that would be better for you/your daughter's netball.

Do your bit to support the club by buying tickets for the upcoming social, email Tim tim@light-fish.co.uk to buy your tickets. If you want to be more involved in the running of the club, please get in touch.

Have a good week. Our next very busy weekend is 24 January! Watch this space for updates!
