News Update #15

22/1/2017

Back in the full swing, though match play not evenly distributed because of match frequency/size of leagues.

RESULTS
Two reasonably successful weekends!!!

14/15 Jan - Northern League secured a great victory over Riverside by just 4 goals, Senior Regional beat Chevrons, and WY seniors had a great victory over Calderdale. In Juniors, wins for U14B, U11A, and U12C (U11 playing up a year) all secured victories, with our U11B being beaten by YMCA. Lots of learning all around. Thanks to coaches delivering training sessions to prepare these athletes as well as those leading teams on match day, and to parents!

21/22 Jan - important wins for both u14&16 in regional league. Great win for Prem away against Academy. Loss for Northern against Shipley. Win for U11B and loss for U14B. Not bad! Lots of learning. Lots of miles travelled, energy spent playing and nervous energy watching!!!

Unfortunately, we have had a couple of netball nights fixtures cancelled recently, so some girls haven't had as much match opportunity.

ADMIN STUFF
Most league rules stipulate that players should carry their England Netball affiliation card with them, particularly U14/16 Regional and all seniors. Susie will do a check in the next 2-3 weeks, so please make sure athletes have these. You can get them from the member bit of the MYNET on the EN website.

TRAINING ARRANGEMENTS
We are keeping the arrangements for Thursday training sessions under review as we try to balance coaching capacity across the sessions. If we make any changes, we will be in touch with people those affected in the normal way.

YORKSHIRE
Well done to our athletes representing Yorkshire NPL U19 Squad against Wasps this weekend, coming home with a win.

ENGLAND
Well done to Georgia Pexton for being selected to represent England U17 in Netball Europe in Ireland in March.
Gwyn Wallis is a reserve for the squad.
Laura Kelly wasn't selected this time, but continues with her place in National Academy.

TRIPS
We are looking to organise an u12 trip to the netball tournament at Disney at Easter. This was very successful a couple of years ago when we took two teams! We are also looking at a club trip to Australia and will be in touch with the current u14&16 to suss out interest and get a trip booked in the next few weeks! Exciting times!!

News Update #14

Happy new year! Back into full swing for what will be a very busy period for netball!!

Thanks to those who volunteered after my last request! And thanks to the coaches and volunteers who have done stuff over the break to plan sessions, organise umpires, sort out fixtures to be on the Google calendar and do all the necessary paperwork so that athletes can enjoy their netball!

RESULTS
Very successful day for juniors today. Wins across the  board and some very successful ones as well!!!

In their first matches, U11A beat YMCA 22-6, and U11B beat Wildcats 13-4. So many smiles on the pictures! No matches for any of our U12 teams today unfortunately! Good win for our
U14B beating Terriers 34-12 as they open their attempt to win the WY league.

U14A beat Stormers 61-12 to make a great start to their regional round. It was an even bigger win for U16A, with a 98-2, against Stormers in their regional round! Almost a cricket score!

Northern league match was regrettably cancelled because their umpire wasn't well.

Premier squad, with a number of young players, did well against top of the table Oldham, losing by just 9 goals.
Well done and thanks to all the coaches who have prepared these squads.

To those players rested or injured this weekend, speedy recovery and keep working hard for your opportunity.

LOOKING AHEAD
Next week sees Senior Regional vs Chevrons and Northern vs Riverside. No Premier game. WY seniors play their rivals Calderdale. No U14&U16 regional games and no u12 games, but there are WY junior games for both U11 teams and for U14B. Five of our players are off to their monthly National Academy camp for the weekend.

WATCHING AND PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES
Don't forget to book those tickets for England vs NZ in Liverpool early February. For 8-14 year olds, book on half term camp with Anna, Maggie, Jan by visiting Elite Netball website.
