News Update #26

12/3/2018

It's that time of week again when you expect the Leeds Athletic Update so that we can give credit to our athletes who work so hard and achieve so much and we can appreciate our coaches in particular and also our parent helpers without whom there wouldn't be so many opportunities! Big special shout out to those mum's out there, many of whom gave up their special day today to taxi/coach/score etc!

PERFORMANCE
First up again this week were the Netball Nights players who had a tough match losing 35-27 following a long winning streak. Great experience and an opportunity to learn though for our youngsters playing in this league.

On Saturday mornings we have West Yorkshire Senior matches, our LANC team in the Superleague division played Farsley Celtic winning 45-31. Leeds are league leaders at the moment, but it looks tight! Here is the table http://www.clubleague.co.uk/Public/Portal/ViewDivision.aspx?cid=947&did=5626
Our busy Sunday started at 9am with an amazing win 31-12 from our U12 LANC A v Shipley and the U14 West Yorkshire team fought hard but lost 27-35 to Yorkshire Terriers. Regional Seniors had an amazing win against Calderdale 80-34 in the last match of the season a great score to finish on girls.
At 10am the U12 LANC C lost 17-11 to YMCA but they are a year young playing in this competitive league so good result girls and at 11am the U12 LANC D beat Huddersfield Giants 2 by 26-7.

At 12.30pm our Premier division one team faced Vipers at Leeds Beckett University.  Sadly it was a loss by just one goal in the closing minutes, but there are more matches still to come in order to secure our place in Prem 1 for next season.

Just up the Otley Road the U16 West Yorkshire girls coached by Louise Boocock beat Huddersfield Giants by a brilliant 69-10 continuing on an unbeaten run.

Next up were the U14As against the new team in the Junior Regional League, Dronfield, Leeds came through to win 38-7 keeping us at the top of the league table, one more win and qualification for Nationals will be certain.

Finally at 2.40pm the U16 Regional squad were up against Harrogate Halos achieving a convincing victory to top today’s scores 71-3. Both U14 and U16 squads are looking great for qualification for Nationals.

WELL DONE
Congratulations to Jessie Ducker and Erin Hodgkiss who have been invited into part of the Easter Roses National Academy Camp. Good luck to them and our other athletes attending.
Great result for Yorkshire NPL beating Severn Stars at U19, lots of our players involved in this match and for those in the warm up games U15 and U17.
