Another busy update, with an eclectic mix of information! It is longer because we are still at the beginning of the season! Hopefully these updates enable everyone to be aware of the breadth of the club.

BUSY WEEKEND OF FIXTURES!
Wednesday night last week saw the last of the Summer Netball Nights League games, with our NNA finishing top of the table and our NNB finishing 3rd. Well done all, and thanks to Mark, Kylie, Rochelle, Susie, Yvonne etc, who have helped do both coaching and admin over the summer. There's been some great experience for our young players. Where youngsters get the opportunity to play adult netball, it is a great way to develop – take the opportunity!
Saturday saw our first WY Senior match, vs old rivals HiTech, so a match of last season’s first vs second! Despite being mostly a young team, Leeds came out 66-33 winner with a superb team performance throughout the court. Big thanks to Sarah H and Rochelle who covered Maggie and Kirsty.
Sunday saw 6 Junior fixtures and 2 Senior fixtures. Our first Premier match at home vs Academy, Northern away vs Riverside in Newcastle, all 3 U12 teams out (including our U11s having a go in the U12C team vs U12), both u14 teams and our U16 team. All the juniors won, some with big wins and those leagues already looking positive!! See Facebook, Twitter or relevant Website page for precise results and the occasional picture. Additionally, we had our very young youngsters training first thing Sunday!
Here was Anna’s message on social media after the weekend’s games!
“Great weekend for the club, juniors smashing it up along with an important West Yorkshire win for our seniors! Young Northern league team learning valuable lessons for the future. Prem team lost by 6, but what a game with some outstanding performances. Thought for Prem and NL is "feeling comfortable being uncomfortable" and we will take that to training”.
Big thanks to the coaches and parents who are helping to organise everything to ensure that all that netball can be played!! We had a few near misses this weekend with things in the wrong place and everyone getting used to the ropes, but…..we get there on team effort! Organising teams and putting teams out is complicated with U16 and Seniors because we are playing so many juniors into senior competitions. Bear with us whilst we get the best approach to this, but make the most of the opportunity by being available for matches. No other Club takes such an approach to developing its youngsters! Likewise, our approach to entering a Netball Nights team of U14 is probably unique, but it is that exposure that develops the athletes ready to compete with the best teams in their age group nationally.
SOCIAL
Don't forget that you can buy your tickets from Tim Barber for the club social on 11/11, let's support this and make it a success.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THIS WEEKEND
A slightly quieter weekend! Many of our girls will be playing for School on Saturday in the first round of National Schools – good luck to everyone! Many of our athletes are playing in a Regional Playday on Sunday, good luck to them too. Just one U14 match this weekend, our U14 play an important fixture against Hudds Giants, with Anna as guest coach. All three U12 teams have matches - vs Wildcats, YMCA and Twinkles respectively. In Senior Regional League, we play Calderdale at Sheffield and in Northern League we play Shipley at Leeds Beckett at 11:30am – younger players welcome to watch and support!
In Update #5 coming after the weekend, we will have our first “coaches corner” with some messages from those who coach our athletes.
