Well what a weekend both our U14s and U16s have qualified for the Regional round of Nationals. Congratulations to all those involved players, coaches, parents and supporters. The teams will play in the Regional games against two teams from South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Humberside and two from play-off matches in a mini tournament next weekend so ten teams in all. The winners and runners up of the Regional League qualify to play in the National finals. This is our #RoadToNationals which is amazing experience for those who are lucky enough to make it. The top 18 teams from across England play all weekend in a clever formula that sees every team gain a placing. Our best ever result is a bronze, two years ago, let’s see if this talented team can go better and make the final!
During the week our young netball Nights team lost to Shooting Winos in a hard fought game with an eventual score of 36-19 more than half points though girls so well done. Also mid-week the U10s pitched up in a friendly against an U12 Farsley at this age two years is a massive advantage. Well done girls for perseverance, a 13-9 loss is very respectable and a brilliant fun photo too.
Today the U14A team beat Huddersfield Giants 44-16 but the U14B lost 25-15 to a strong YMCA there was lots of learning ready for their next round of West Yorkshire matches after Christmas. The U16A had a lot of fun this morning a special visitor, a C totally out of position played GA, an amazing score of 63-9 and to top it off buns to celebrate. The U16B were just as awesome on court winning 38-21 but not quite so giddy. In the U12s the A’s won an unbelievable 64-1 v Yorkshire Terriers (a record victory!), what are you feeding those girls? The Bs won in a closely contested match against Wakefield Wildcats 17-15.
In seniors no match for our Regional team this week, but Northern had a tough one against Oaksway, coming away with the win 55-41. A difficult match for the Prem girls against Turnford resulted in a nail biting loss 58-60. The seniors also need to up their game to win the fun photo competition the juniors are definitely smashing this competition so far. Yesterday, our WY Seniors lost to a strong Morrisons, with a number of juniors playing into seniors, so great learning!
Congratulations to Laura Kelly and Claudia Stead for being selected to the Great Britain Colleges squad last week.
Most junior games have finished now, but seniors continue, with the last Prem match on 16th Dec! NPL matches start soon and there is lots of Rhinos activity in the next couple of weeks.
Good to see some of our players returning from injury, but some players still out, so keep taking care and following instructions and stay in touch. Your netball family want to provide as much support to you as possible.
And finally, don't forget to bring goodies for Hannah Beckley to collect for Charity.
