FACILITIES
I promised to keep you up to date with facilities for next year. Many of you will be aware that there are significant changes at LMU, meaning that they lose one court and therefore have less facilities for hire. Although they're very keen to support our club and accommodate us, they're struggling to meet our needs alongside all the student use. I won't bore you with all the details, but we have considered a wide range of alternatives and there isn't much choice is the same vicinity as LMU.
The best alternative, in terms of quality of facilities, location close to LMU, accessibility, ease of parking and value for money, is the Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), LS17 8GS. So, from 5:45-10pm on a Thursday, our U12, U14, U16 and senior squads will be training there. We haven't sorted out precise timings for each session yet, but we will be giving each squad a session of between 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 hours. We will have use of the indoor court, a studio for warm up/cool down/team briefing, and the running track or outside courts should we want them. We need to make sure that members are clear that GSAL is a training base, as a club we're keen to ensure players come from as wide a range of schools as possible. We will confirm the timings when we confirm the coaching structure for next season - probably early June. We will also confirm fees sometime towards the end of June. We will continue to use LMU for our U11 squads on a Sunday morning.

Netball Trainers Advice (added 26 November 2013)
Advice on Selection of Netball Trainers – by Ruth Cockerill, Physiotherapist
Many LANC players and parents will already know Ruth Cockerill, member of our current Premier Squad and ex England and Superleague player. Ruth is also a highly experienced physiotherapist, specialising in specialising in sports injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Thinking that players may have asked for new Netball trainers for Christmas, LANC approached Ruth for some advice on trainer selection, and this is what she said,
‘Netball is a unique sport that places a variety of demands on the body and feet, therefore a trainer designed specifically to accommodate the nature of the sport is advised. Asics are the main producer of Netball trainers but there are other brands producing them as well.
