News Bulletin - 29 April

Picture

In this week's ebulletin, a look ahead to next season, so that current members know where we're at with training facilities, coaches and the number of teams; an opportunity to get more involved eg coaching or umpiring or supporting; and a "save the date" for trials on Sunday 31 August 2014.

As this season draws to a close, we're looking ahead to build on the club's achievements both on an off court. For example:

  • run another successful trials day on Sunday 31 August 2014, probably with an u11 netball festival on the same date, so save the date in your diary for now. There'll be more information available soon about timings on the day, which ages trial, entry deadlines/forms/fees etc. Watch this space.
  • ensure that the training programme, coaching capacity and training venue is right for the girls. We are in conversation with LMU and other north Leeds venues, and Anna is sourcing coaches for next year. We hope to be able to announce all this at the end of May/early June. So, again, watch this space.
  • make the website more dynamic, with a live & shared calendar, player profiles, and more regular match reports.
  • increase the number of people who are involved, either on or off court. So, if you're interested in doing a coaching or umpiring qualification, or in helping in a support role....please let me know. The club will support qualifications and now we have got a better fix on what has to be done each season, we can have more helpers to share the load a bit. If you want a chat about this, call me about helping in the background or Anna about coaching.
  • we will continue to run junior and senior teams next year, but we are aiming to run an additional team at U14. So, there will be premier, northern, regional and WY Superleague for seniors; and 1xU16; 2xU14; 2xU12; 2xU11 for juniors.
  • we will look to enter more tournaments and try and organise friendlies to give the girls different competition.
  • organise at least one more social event, probably a BBQ at the start of the season.

We will keep you posted.
