Teams should all have been assigned administrators, have training balls, match balls and kit bags. First matches are out of the way and recording and reporting scores making more sense.
PERFORMANCE
Tuesday brought another win for our Bradford Netball Nights team 17-6 the final outcome.
A close game for our Wednesday Netball Nights team winning 22-21 nice little celebration dance on our Facebook page if you care to look.
On Saturday our West Yorkshire Seniors played Alliance, losing 41-52 in a tough match.
Our Prem 1 team were at home for the first time this season playing Oaksway in an exciting match. Unfortunately although our girls played well and battled on they lost this tight encounter 51-56.
The Northern girls faced Riverside also the first home game this year. A cracking match but the experience of the opposition just swung it, resulting in a 49-51 loss.
Hi Tech were the fierce opponents for our young Senior Regional team. They battled hard against the experienced and physical opposition, final score 45-43 to LANC.
The U16A’s faired well winning their third game convincingly 46-17 against Yorkshire Terriers 1. Their pals playing in the U16B’s not to be out done played Wakefield Wildcats and won 26-23 in a closely contested match.
In the 14’s just a game for the B’s this Sunday v Yorkshire Terriers 1 a superb win 26-16.
Then in the 12’s only the D team were due to play Birkenshaw Belles 1. However the match was cancelled due to water on the court.

FAREWELL
This week the club says goodbye and good luck to an outstanding member of our community, Chairperson, Mariana Pexton. Please see the message from her below-

Just a quick one to let you know that I am resigning as Chair of Leeds Athletic, after 7 or so years in the role.
A few of us took the club on with very little structure and fewer teams and we’ve put much more structure and process to improve the organisation, administration, communication and profile of the Club. It’s been hard work, requiring countless hours of dedicated hard work organising trials each year and teams each week. I suspect I’ve written in the region of 300 Club Updates, with probably hundreds of tweets as well!
Leeds Athletic has grown through this period and been able to respond to help deliver the amazing netball vision that Anna Carter has. Introducing netball nights for juniors sounds a small thing, but it’s developed athletes really well. “Let’s plan a trip to Australia” Anna said, and sure enough those athletes (and coaches) had a trip of a lifetime!
As ever though, there’s always more to do to improve, especially to make the most of the opportunity that the growth of the game offers. But I’m ready to pass that baton to someone else to drive forward, leading the awesome team of volunteers, and working with the amazing coaching team.
The thing I’m proudest of is contributing to the development of so many girls, on and also off court, providing a context where they can thrive, be confident, sociable, well organised team players, and hopefully be the best netballers they can be. The thing I’ve enjoyed the most is working with such a great team of committed individuals who care about the club and the athletes.
Many of you will know that sadly I lost both parents in the last twelve months. I struggled to maintain my level of commitment to the club because of juggling some tough family stuff. Club colleagues have provided great support to me which I’ve really appreciated.
I’m going to take some time to do something for me and hope to be starting a Doctorate very soon, almost twenty years after I completed my Masters! Stepping away from Club will also allow me to spend more time with Daniel as well, and maybe head to Birmingham to watch Georgia in the odd game!
I wish the club the best of luck for the next phase of the journey, it’s in super hands with the coaching team and the admin team. Good luck to all the athletes, and if you’re a parent who isn’t involved, maybe look to get involved, it’s hard but rewarding!

Mariana picked up Leeds Athletic by the heels seven years ago and has stood as Chairperson since that time. She has been the quiet voice of reason, meanwhile shouting the clubs praises and forging good relationships with members of the netball community. Reliable, visible and fair, an inspiration and a valued friend. I am sure club members, parents and friends will all want me to thank her for such a long and dedicated service to our club. Thank you Mariana and good luck in all you do, we are sorry to lose you as our Chairperson, but feel lucky you chose to volunteer at Leeds Athletic.
DISNEY
