At last things have settled a bit and there seems some security to training times and match schedules are being confirmed. Everyone is enjoying being back on court and there are lots of happy faces.

PERFORMANCE
The U14s had their first competitive (friendly) match of the season against Hull Diamonds three weeks ago. They played 6 x 10 minutes resulting in a draw of 45:45 it was amazing to be back on court in the black and blue.

Many thanks to ENA for creating a junior league running from Lightcliffe Academy in Halifax to give our athletes the opportunity to return to competition. Parents were delighted to be able to view live streaming of some matches this weekend. Our thanks go to Mark Boocock working on behalf of ENA for creating the league and facilitating the filming.

U16A have had two wins from two in the ENA league beating Bells significantly 57-1 in the first game and this week saw them up against tough opposition in the form of our own U16B team, a proper ding dong match with both sides providing some quality netball, the final score was 24-16.
Last week the U16B team had a great run out, winning 32-8 over a mixed opposition team in place of Oaksway who withdrew from the league last minute.

The U14A team won their first ENA league match 46:2 against Birkenshaw Bells B team. Lovely just to see so many happy faces on court.  The U14As conquered for a second time this week in an astounding 36-9  win over Grangetown.
Well done to both the U14 LANC B and C teams who played each other a week ago. The girls took some time to adjust to the new umpiring rules but it is all a learning curve. The final score was 17-9 to the B team.

Brilliant play by the LANC U14B team who secured a solid victory against Birkenshaw Bells on Sunday, final score was 37-0. Defensive play by all the athletes was magnificent.
LANC U14C played a tough match against Diamonds this Sunday we won the last quarter 5-3 but lost the overall game 31-13. A big credit to our girls who showed determination, resilience and kept battling on until that final whistle blew!
LANC U12 Bears had a hard fought derby against LANC Lions on Saturday. Great play by both sides Lions leading for most of the match, with Bears fighting back in the last quarter resulting in a 12-12 draw.

The Bears were also in action last week putting on an outstanding performance to beat Birkenshaw Bells 42-3. Great team spirit and everyone worked their socks off. Bears first match was against Netbombs which resulted in a 19-9 win for the opposition but lots learnt on the way.
It was an impressive 38-20 win v Bluebells for the U12 squad team Flamingos on 17th October. Hugely impressive passing, movement, defending, shooting and listening to coaches.
The Flamingos were 32-3 winners against spirited opposition Netbombs in the Elite Netball league this week too. The whole team showing great teamwork again.

The U11s are the Leeds Lions and Leeds Leopards in the ENA league and ferocious they are too. In their first match the Leopards played Belles winning 19-8. For their first match the Lions had a tightly fought game against Flamingo's winning 13-12. For their second match the teams played each other with the Lions winning 16-9.

This week Leopards beat Randoms 19-0.

Congratulations to the following athletes who have been awarded Player of the Match over the last three weeks in the ENA league we are really proud of you.

CROWDFUNDING
Our brilliant fund raising team have been busy creating and managing a crowdfunding page, a special mention has to go to Sarah Gould who had to learn how to crowd fund before embarking on this process. What an amazing job she has done we are almost at £6000 in two weeks. Funds are to cover the costs of Covid and support all our members on their netball journey. Please take a look at the link below. It is still open to put on new items for sale from your business or to donate, happy for you to share, share, share and definitely keen for everyone to buy the remaining items or make a financial donation. Don’t be scared it is easy to navigate even for an IT dummy!!

RHINOS TRIALS
Leeds Rhinos netball have been trialling over the last couple of weeks. Good luck everyone still in the process and well done to those who have already been successful.

COVID-19 TEAM
Our Covid Officers are working hard to make our netball world as safe as it can be. The Team Covid Officers are giving up lots of their own time to train, read, print, laminate, buy products, distribute equipment and most of all arrive before the athletes and leave after them every week. They are doing a sterling job please thank them for their voluntary contribution to the club we are very lucky to have such a great team.

NEW MEMBER APPOINTED VOLUNTEER
Toni Biggin is our New Member Appointed Volunteer who is happy to help any new members navigate their way through the first season in a new club. Please contact her for help toni.biggin@uk.nestle.com

UPCOMING
West Yorkshire Junior league matches have been released and will be distributed by the team admins.
Senior West Yorkshire fixtures have been announced, this year they will be outside due to restrictions. Matches will be at Buttershaw and Woodhouse Grove however spectators are sadly not allowed by the league due to Governing body guidelines. Interestingly this year the league have allowed Northern Titans to enter the first North of England men’s netball team see link below
https://www.northerntitans.com/

What a pity we can’t sell tickets for this first game they would be super popular. Watch out for Look North’s coverage of the first league match Leeds Athletic v Northern Titans not sure what day it is going out but filming is on Thursday.
Good luck to all our teams in their league matches.

WEBSITE
Fixtures and training sessions are being added to our google calendar on the club website. Please use the calendar and venue information before contacting and asking team admins they are very busy people in a voluntary capacity
