Match Report - Leeds Athletic 57 vs Twinkles 1
We started with a strong team in the first quarter and they were quickly into their stride, running in 17 goals, and this was with the shooting a bit off colour for a change.
With no changes in the second quarter the accuracy was better and 23 were added for a 40-0 half time lead. Although the defence was not too troubled, the combination of Lucy Simpson (GK), Lucy Burgin (GD) and Ailsa (WD) was rock solid, snuffing out any danger. With such a large lead at half time it was a chance to try a different combination, so off came Katie, Lexy, Gaby, Ailsa and Hannah, and on came Georgia (C), Molly (GA), Lindsay (WD) and Beth (GS).
The change interrupted the flow a little and we were restricted to only 10 goals – which should have been more but the accuracy let us down again – and the same line up managed only 7 in the final quarter. With around a minute to go the first lapse in concentration from the defence saw us concede a goal – it would have been quite an achievement to have a complete shut out.
It was good to give 12 players a game and probably not a luxury we will be able to have very often.
We also maintained the more aggressive on court defence evident in the last game which is improving our all round game, but work will be taking place to improve accuracy.
