Match Report - Leeds Athletic 36 vs Yorkshire Terriers 16

We made a very slow start to this game, hampered by the fact that two players were not able to play due to trials elsewhere and that all our defenders have injuries, so players are having to play out of their natural positions. They deserve great credit for their willingness to do this. We trailed 8-6 after the first quarter, but the introduction of Ailsa Gorman put some energy into proceedings and we had dug out a three point lead by the halfway point. Switching Beth Johnson to GK and introducing Molly Harris at GA seemed to give the team the shape and balance needed to start playing some energetic and exciting netball. Molly played on bravely in the 4th quarter after damaging her ankle and gave a 100% return on her 6 shots, with Hannah returning 23/27 shots against dangerous opponents who tired somewhat after their enthusiastic start.

Congratulations to all the team for their overall performance – there are plenty of improvements to work on, but I should mention Gaby Aston had an excellent match at WA, linking the play in the centre court with variety and intelligence.
