Match Report - National Finals - Sheffield
Day 1 u14 National Finals in Sheffield
Making it to National Finals was a brilliant achievement and it's not surprising that we were a little nervous in our first match v Woodley from Reading. Unfortunately, our nerves manifested themselves in a series of basic errors and we lost 32-16. It's not in our nature to enjoy defeat and we went into our second match v Midlands team Elmdon, motivated by our post match analysis. This match felt close but we were victorious, sweaty and happy with the 25-18 full time score. Finishing second place in our first group, we then progressed to our third match v Northants. They presented a feisty performance but couldn't quite match our pace and came out 17-14 winners. And then we met highly respected Turnford. Our performance in this game was nothing short of incredible compared with our first match of the day. Despite being 3 goals down at one point, every player stepped up to a new level and the score was equal by the end of Q3 (11 all). Our convincing 18-13 win left us and our supporters in raptures. Well done to everyone on and off the court. I'm so proud to be part of this squad. Thank you to everyone who coached, supported and made it happen. So, tomorrow, we face Tameside and Milton Keynes in the prestigious 1-6 part of the competition. Can't wait :) Lexy Shipley |
